A way to follow people without getting updates on your Dashboard

Sometimes when you follow someone, it's like a "hey ya know you're cool and I know you" but you don't really want your feed clogged up with their auditions and stuff. Like some people audition for a billion things everyday. It's hard to find anything I'm looking for in my dashboard.
